JK Simmons Will Travel to an Alternate Universe in Counterpart

Starz has made a deal for Counterpart, a metaphysical show following a lowly UN bureaucrat who discovers that his department has a secret portal to an alternate dimension.

Counterpart sounds pretty spectacular. It was created and written by Justin Marks (Disney’s upcoming live-action Jungle Book) and the first two episodes will be directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game). The show is described as an “espionage thriller with a metaphysical twist,” which sounds like the main character and his parallel dimension counterpart will be investigating something at their UN agency.

Simmons will play Howard Silk, who is staring down the barrel of a life full of regrets when he meets Prime, Silk’s alternate universe counterpart. Seriously, how long do we have to wait to see these two characters debate the relative merits of the directions their lives have taken?
