Click to viewYesterday afternoon, “Skyscraper Man” Dan Goodwin, also known as Spider Dan, climbed the 58-story Millennium Tower in San Francisco to raise awareness for terrorism and cancer. Spider Dan’s means of conveyance: suction cups, of course.

Yesterday’s climb took three hours in all, though Goodwin was replenished along the way by cups of water provided by the tower’s residents. Local police arrested Spider Dan immediately after the climb for trespassing and being a public nuisance, though he was later released.

The 54-year-old climber has previously scaled the Sears Tower in Chicago and the World Trade Center in New York, drawing attention to the fact that skyscrapers are still vulnerable to terrorist attacks. And vulnerable to feel-good Labor Day news items about graying Cancer-survivor climbers with suction cups. [KGO via Gawker]
