Writing on his own Facebook fan page, Mark Zuckerberg today proposed that he forsake all riches for social good. Uh, sure. Naturally, such a declaration did not really come from the world’s youngest billionaire; Zuckerberg just got hacked.
The message, apparently posted under the Facebook CEO’s own account ID (see image below), read,
Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Price winner Muhammad Yunus described it? http://bit.ly/fs6rT3 What do you think? #hackercup2011
Now, says TechCrunch, the fan page has been deleted. Which makes sense; Zuckerberg lives modestly and has had his commendable philanthropic moments, but his investors include a Russian oligarch, Goldman Sachs, and plenty of venture capitalists. They’re not about to give up their dividends and commit all future profits to social causes, as the hacker-cum-Zuckerberg proposed.

Besides, if Facebook really wants to enhance the social good it can start by simply fixing that problem where your Facebook account can be trivially hijacked at any Starbucks.
