Windows XP is dead, Windows XP will live forever! Windows 7 Professional buyers will continue to have an option to downgrade two gens to Windows XP for the next 10 years, according to Microsoft.

Windows 7 Ultimate users will continue to have the option for 5 more years, until 2015. Why such a long window? Well, a Microsoft spokesman says it would be confusing to drop the option while Windows 7’s lifecycle is still in effect. Fair enough! But something tells me there aren’t going to be too many people looking to rock Windows XP in 2019. But good on you for giving them the option, Microsoft. [Windows Team Blog via Electronista]
