Microsoft’s Kinect Can See You (From Between 4 and 11 Feet Away)

UK-based online retailer Play has “gone live” with a list of tech specs for Microsoft’s happy-clappy new Kinect controller, revealing many deeply technical things about the internal workings of Microsoft’s Magic Eye.

It’s (kind of, a bit) interesting to see Kinect’s field of view data, which is reported to have a sensor range of between 1.2 and 3.5 metres, with the specs also showing that the camera part of the motion gadget is able to pluck out a video stream at a rather low 640×480 resolution—running at 30fps.

It is also able to track up to “20 joints” per player—I’ll leave you to make up your own jokes about that.
