German outfit Minox is launching the 8.1-megapixel DC 8122 digital camera, which should straddle the line between consumer and professional camera quite well. Among the expected features of the DC 8122 is a mode that helps prevent blurred images, something that can really be appreciated when used in conjunction with the built-in image stabilizer. The camera includes just about every other feature commonly found other cameras of similar ilk, like video clip recording (30 fps AVI) and red eye reduction.

The DC 8122’s 32MB of onboard memory is laughable, but a 1GB SD card easily solves that problem. The camera has a 6x optical zoom and up to 8x digital zoom, perfect for making your pictures look terrible.

Minox has yet to release the price or the exact release date of the DC 8122. Why would they?
