IBM announced on Monday that they’ve developed mouse-based input technology that can compensate for manual tremors. The new system uses similar algorithms as those found in image stabilization systems for digital cameras. Montrose Secam is selling an adapter based on IBM’s technology which can have its sensitivity adjusted by a few large knobs and switches. They call it the Assistive Mouse Adapter (but I call it the “Ali”) and it’s available for $99 plus shipping. To be honest, I’m not sure if they’re planning on selling the unit integrated with a mouse, but said unit is PS/2 compatible so it’ll work with any existing PS/2 mouse.
