Must-see movies are futuristic classics that shouldn’t be missed. Of course, not every must-see is perfect. That’s why we’ve rated them 1-5 on the patented “crunchy goodness” scale.
Title: I, Robot
Date: 2004
Vitals: Based very loosely on Isaac Asimov’s influential 1955 short story collection, this flick explores an age-old SF question: what would happen if a bunch of robot slaves realized they were being exploited and started a revolution?
Famous names: Alex Proyas, Will Smith, Bridget Moynihan
Crunchy goodness: 3
Bang for your buck: The CGI robots look terrific, smoothly integrated into the live action.
Elevator pitch: It’s like every other movie about robots – but it has Will Smith!
Most painfully dated moment: In an embarrassing attempt to be cool, the filmmakers randomly insert Converse All-Stars into the plot – apparently Will Smith loves antique shoes and collects them.
