Robert Downey Jr. won't be starring in Iron Man director Jon Favreau's scifi Western Cowboys and Aliens. But why? Looks like RDJ has a schedule conflict with the fast-tracked Sherlock Holmes 2.
The upcoming Cowboys and Aliens is based on Platinum Studio's 2006 graphic novel about cowboys and Apaches versus extraterrestrial invaders in 1800s Arizona. Fortunately for Iron Man fans, it seems that Favreau holds no ill will against Downey for going with the Holmes sequel. Yesterday Favreau tweeted, "Academy members: Please keep Downey for Holmes and Sam Rockwell for Moon in mind."
Favreau's presumable next move will be to secure a new leading man to play Cowboy and Aliens gunslinger hero, Zeke Jackson.
