Those of you keeping track of the many game-to-TV adaptations, go on and the long-lasting MMO Runescape to your list.

During this weekend’s RuneFest event, UK developer Jagex announced a TV series created with Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White. The latter is a popular YouTuber whose non-streaming resume includes voice work in games like Dispatch and Mewgenics, and writing/producing an animated film based on Godslap, a graphic novel he co-created with Stephanie Philips and Ricardo Jaime.

This RuneScape series will be handled by Lyrical Animation, which is also doing White’s Godslap adaptation. Along with this, the studio’s co-producing the animated films Death Stranding: Mosquito and Bloodborne. The latter, announced earlier this year, is being produced by fellow YouTuber (and White’s Dispatch co-star) Seán “jacksepticeye“ McLoughlin.

“For 25 years, our players have helped shape Runescape’s extraordinary world, its characters and its stories,” said Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy. “We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience. It’s early days, but we’re excited to explore that potential with Charlie and the team at Lyrical Animation, and we wanted our players to be the first to know.”

Development on the RuneScape series is early, and Jagex promised more details in 2027. With 2026 being the MMO’s 25th anniversary, the studio decided it couldn’t help but announce it now, ditto the upcoming fourth MMO releasing in the near future.
