The 2001 remake of Ocean's Eleven may be slick, but the original is campy, kind of confusing, and set on New Year's! It's pretty great.
Who's in it?
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., and a bunch of their friends you've never heard of.
What's it about?
Danny Ocean calls in some airborne buddies from World War II to help him rob the biggest casinos in Las Vegas. They plan to blow up Vegas' power source on New Year's Eve and rewire the casino circuits so the backup electrical system unlocks the safes.
Why do we like it?
Ocean's Eleven is classic Rat Pack, and has great physical humor, especially when the team pretends to be casino employees. It's definitely worth revisiting. And if nothing else, the trailer is a great reminder of how incredibly cheesy and excessive previews used to be.
