Pioneer plans to introduce in June the world’s first 50″ 1080p plasma display, the PDP-5000EX Pure Vision Black Plasma Display. The display produces resolution of 1920 x 1080 and “smart converts” lower resolution images in order to optimize them for its screen. A number of technologies that Pioneer has developed power the display, including the “PUREBACK Crystal Layer,” which is positioned between the glass and the individual light cells and helps improve contrast and brightness while being energy efficient. The display, which has Digital HDMI, DVI (HDCP), component and composite inputs, does not yet carry a price.
