Los Angeles International Airport shut down all incoming traffic Sunday night while officers investigated reports of shots fired, KTLA reports. According to an LAPD spokesperson, investigators found no evidence of a shooting and determined the alleged gunfire was “loud noises.”

NBC News reports that authorities received multiple 911 calls from multiple terminals before responding. Posts on social media showed a chaotic scene as panicked passengers evacuated the airport.

Earlier this month, police searched and cleared New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport after receiving false reports of gunfire. An official told NBC News that the sound of people watching the Olympics may have been mistaken for gun shots.
