In a warning published by Variety, the Sony hackers threatened to carry out an attack on the premiere of The Interview, as well as other showings of the Seth Rogen comedy.
Update: "We are still analyzing the credibility of these statements, but at this time there is no credible intelligence to indicate an active plot against movie theaters within the United States," a Department of Homeland Security representative said in a statement.
The hackers also released a set of the files, the previously promised "Christmas surprise," named "Michael Lynton" after the CEO of Sony Pictures. This latest leak follows previous dumps of confidential Sony information, including the emails of Sony exec Amy Pascal and personal data from employees and ex-employees.
