The iPad 2 launch is imminent, of this we can be sure, but time and date have thus far avoided the usual rumor-mongering channels. Until now? Updated.

Citing a Saturday report from the previously accurate macotakara.jp, AppleInsider reports that the latest Apple tablet will arrive at a low-key launch event sometime in March. Whether this is simply a public unveiling with a launch sometime later in 2011 or the official launch-and-appearance in the Apple Store is unknown.

In related tablet news, there’s a Motorola Xoom advertisement slated to run during some kind of sporting event this evening. Tablets!

Update: Seems the translation actually hints at a late February event. Late February, early March—something is happening, sometime. [macotakara.jp via AppleInsider]
