The Samsung 32-inch Odyssey G55C is a mid-range gaming monitor that pairs a QHD curved VA panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. The curved screen brings the edges of the screen closer to your eyes, so you don’t have to strain to see what’s happening in your peripheral vision. The display also supports FreeSync to help eliminate screen tearing and includes HDR10 for richer colors and deeper shadows.

Head over to Amazon to get the Samsung 32-inch Odyssey G55C Series QHD Curved Gaming Monitor for just $230, down from its usual price of $273, which is a discount of $43 and 16% off.

A monitor that’ll keep you right in the middle of the action

The G55C’s panel delivers deep blacks thanks to its 2500:1 static contrast ratio. It can output 16.7 million colors with HDR10 enabled, and the 178-degree viewing angles are excellent for a VA display. It has a peak SDR brightness of 300 nits, which is more than enough for most people, but it might get washed out if you place it in front of a window or bright light. It outputs in native 1440p QHD, which is almost twice the pixel density of 1080p, which makes both text and games crisper without the high-performance overhead 4K requires.

For gaming, the 165Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth during fast scenes, with the 1ms MPRT response time keeping ghosting to a minimum. AMD FreeSync prevents screen tearing when frame rates fluctuate, and maintains smooth gameplay without locking to Vsync. Longer gaming sessions benefit from the curved wrap, which can reduce eye movement when tracking action across the screen’s edges. Eye Saver Mode and Flicker-Free both help reduce screen-induced eye strain over time.

Design-wise, a flat black finish covers the cabinet with the Samsung Odyssey aesthetic on the back, though most of that detail sits behind the screen and out of sight. The stand offers tilt adjustment from -2 to +18 degrees but doesn’t include height or swivel options. VESA mounting at 75x75mm covers third-party arm or wall mount compatibility for anyone wanting more positioning flexibility. Ports on the back include one DisplayPort, one HDMI 2.0, one headphone jack, and a single USB port reserved for service use.

Getting the most out of this, the G55C means connecting through DisplayPort, since the HDMI 2.0 port caps the refresh rate at 144Hz at 1440p due to bandwidth limits. Using the DisplayPort input avoids that ceiling and gives access to the full 165Hz refresh rate. At $230, down from $273, the monitor sits comfortably in the budget gaming category for its size and feature set.
