Sanyo Electric Corporation announced on the 8th that they have a new CEO coming in, named Tomoyo Nonaka. This is a significant move for the company as she is replacing Toshimasa Iue, grandson of Sanyo founder Toshio Iue.
Tomoyo Nonaka is female. I wouldn’t really bother to point this out in fear of all the hate mail Joel will receive, but it’s Japan. Women’s rights still have a very, very long way to go over there (particularly in the corporate world), and this a step in the right direction. Tomoyo Nonaka’s experience is plentiful, from being a newscaster to CEO of Asahi Beer.
