I took this picture using a complex series of mirrors and the Nikon D80 featured in the picture. The composition is actually my reflection. The lens was a Nikon Nikkor 50.0 mm f/1.4. It was shot in manual mode. The Shutter Speed was 1/25 with an F-Stop of 3.5. The ISO was set at 500.

2 Costco cat food containers on either side of my head
2 Nikon SB-800’s with a 1/2 cut of blue gel on top of those containers, sitting flush against the lips of the containers so the light does not spill down, just straight out
I put a clear cooking dish on those flashes, resting the handles of the dish on the heads of the flash so they fire directly into the dish
I put 2 black material go betweens on top of the dish’s handles to direct the light into the dish and not up, making the dish and the water the light for the face

This is me at my most vulnerable and exhausted. No ego. I chose to use post-its because I have exhausted all of my options. For this shot, I first used my 50mm at 1.7 for the portrait of my face (the photo on the iPad), the bottom half of my torso (photo on the Macbook) and used the iphone’s camera to take a picture of the couch behind it. I then put the photos on the devices an spent about an eternity lining up all the devices with my body, shooting almost 100 takes with the 24mm lens at 2.8.

This picture was snagged using an iPhone 3GS immediately after a workout. I am standing opposite a mirror and the image is my reflection. Notice how to jaw in the image is crisp, but the rest of the forehead is intentionally blurry to give the tired yet intense look.

I started with just a plain old “hold out the camera and aim for face” shot. I then used Paint.NET to sharpen the image before using the “edge detect” effect. Then, I lit up my old TRS-80 from above and snagged that shot. I merged the two pictures together to create the final image. I took the pictures with a myTouch3g. Auto-focus, auto-white-balance.

My goal with this entry was photorealism, I used a wacom tablet to paint it in Photoshop CS3. I started with a reference picture I took on my video camera, and then digitally painted over top of it. The background was based off a series of doodles on my notebook.

I used a Nikon D70s with a remote flash pointed straight toward the side of my face. The lens was a Vivitar series 1 105mm macro. The exposure time was a half second because my remote flash was being unresponsive, and the aperture was about f-16.

I used a Pentax K-X (with the 18-55 kit-lens) for both the printed picture and the actual result, two flashlights, a diffusor from Delamax and a Phottix remote flashlight trigger. The first shot was taken in front of a white wall with a tripod, printed and cutted. In the end I was able to take the picture of me without a tripod. The final shot is taken at ISO 200, 9,0 aperture and it took 1/50 of a second.

I applied a blue tint using Photoshop Elements, the selected the area outside of the shirt, and applied a black tint.
