We love a release date announcement. It’s usually the most concrete evidence that a movie you’ve been hearing about for a long time is finally happening. And, this week, Sony just dated, or moved, a ton of movies we’ve been hearing about, so let’s dig in.

The big one is Ridley Scott’s Treasure Island, starring Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Hugh Grant, and Owen Cooper, is set for release on November 11, 2027. Written by Jack Thorne, this is “a new take on [Robert Louis] Stevenson’s novel. That story follows a young boy who uncovers the map to a legendary buried treasure, and he embarks on a perilous sea voyage to claim a hidden fortune, only to find himself locked in a deadly battle of wits with the charismatic and treacherous pirate Long John Silver.”

Sony also locked in 24 Jump Street, the sequel to 21 and 22 Jump Street, for release on December 10, 2027. This is not, as far as we know, the Men in Black crossover that was planned by anything is possible on Jump Street. Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) is directing, and Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are all confirmed to return.

Grandgear, the English-language directorial debut of Godzilla Minus One and Minus Zero director Takashi Yamazaki, was actually moved up on the schedule, from February 18, 2028 to January 14, 2028. We don’t know much about it except that there are giant freaking robots in it. Which is appropriate, as it’s produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.

The Justin Lin adaptation of the video game Helldivers has been shifted back from November 10, 2027, to June 9, 2028. “The story centers on an elite unit of soldiers—known as Helldivers— who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth,” and Alan Ritchson will star.

Sony also dated a thriller called The Surgeon, starring Michelle Yeoh, for April 2, 2027, and the comedy Narcs, starring Mason Thames and Ella Bright, for August 20, 2027.
