One subscription, every screen you own. Surfshark charges $2.49 a month with no limit on devices, and the tiers above add antivirus, breach alerts and scam text filtering.

Surfshark doesn’t count devices. Put it on your laptop, your phone, the TV, the Fire Stick, and your partner’s tablet, and it works on all of them at once. One subscription covers the lot, with nothing to disconnect. At $2.49 a month, it’s why I keep pointing people toward it when they want something cheap for a whole house.

One Subscription, Every Screen in the House

Most households have more connected things than people: a phone and a laptop each, a smart TV, a streaming stick, a spare tablet, a console, a work laptop that stays off-limits. Covering all of that with a VPN usually means choosing which devices matter. Surfshark skips the arithmetic. Every device gets the app, and every device stays connected.

Nothing gets bumped when another person signs in. A console or an older smart TV can be covered by installing Surfshark on the router. Everything is protected, and none counts against you. Family living elsewhere can use the same account, a right thing to buy for a parent who’d never set up a VPN alone.

What $2.49 a Month Actually Gets You

Nothing about the VPN is cut down on Starter. You get 4,500+ servers in 100 countries, so a US, UK, or Japanese connection is a tap away. Everything I found while testing it came from this same plan. Those servers use RAM only, so a reboot wipes them clean. CleanWeb also strips ads and trackers before pages render.  The Web Content Blocker goes further and blocks whole categories.

You can shut off gambling or adult sites across every device on the account, which helps on a kid’s tablet. Alternative ID comes with this tier. It generates a working identity and inbox for sites that demand an email. The newsletters and breach notices go somewhere other than your main inbox. The price is $2.49/mo on the 27-month plan, which is $67.23 up front, down from $444.15.

Antivirus and Scam Tools on the Bigger Plans

Surfshark One is $2.79 a month, or $75.33 for the same 27 months. The extra 30 cents adds antivirus, which covers the laptop without a second subscription. I’ve written up how its malware scanning performed on its own if that’s the part you care about. It also adds Alert, which watches your email addresses and credit cards and tells you when either shows up in a breach.

Scam protection is the newest addition, and the text side is the part I’d use. It screens SMS from unknown senders. On iPhone, it moves flagged messages to a spam folder, and on Android it tells you why a message looked wrong. Fake delivery notices and bank texts are the scams that catch people. Surfshark One+ is $4.49 a month, $121.23 for the term.

It adds identity theft coverage and Incogni, which files removal requests with data brokers and keeps chasing them. Pick that tier if your details are already circulating.

How Surfshark Handles Your Data

Surfshark operates from the Netherlands. Its servers briefly keep a user ID and connection timestamps, then delete them within 15 minutes of you disconnecting. Browsing history, traffic, bandwidth figures, and visited IP addresses are never stored. Dausos, Surfshark’s own protocol, gives each user a dedicated tunnel instead of a shared one.

It uses AEGIS-256X2 encryption, is post-quantum resilient, and was audited by Cure53. Surfshark claims up to 30% faster speeds from it.

Is Surfshark Worth $2.49 a Month?

For a household, yes. You stop protecting the 2 or 3 things you use most and start protecting the lot, including devices other people never think about. All of it costs $67.23 for 27 months. The bigger tiers are worth a look if you want antivirus and scam filtering under one login. I’d point most people to Starter first. The 30-day refund buys you a month of use before you commit.
