Hardware manufacturers are working on a version of USB 2.0 called USB On-the-Go, which will allow USB 2.0 peripherals to connect to each other, bypassing a PC entirely. Should start appearing by early next year. Read

Toshiba’s just released the first DVD burner for laptops, the SD-R6012, which supports DVD-R and DVD-RW. Pioneer is expected to follow suit with its own DVD burner for laptops soon. Read
