Gizmodo needs your help. In an effort to understand what you all love to read, I’d like to chat with a few of you in the next few weeks. The goal? To figure out just who a Gizmodo lover is these days and what you are looking for.

Honestly, I like the article content you’ve got. I don’t have the expertise to give you reasonable feedback there.

I do, however, have expertise in UX/UI and responsive design. There are two major, experience breaking issues here:

First, the comments. Oh my God you guys. This is an issue of sunk costs for your engineering efforts on kinja. Drop what you have and get one of the *many* third party comment systems integrated. It’s abysmal, ESPECIALLY on mobile. Half the time it breaks, the text entry goes completely rogue and randomly deletes/Adds words, and it has been this way for years. I would guess that a non trivial amount of people return here for the comment section, I am one of them.

And please, install a damn cookie already so I don’t have to click THREE times to show the full comments. Especially with how broken the UI is here, having to reload them is insane.

Secondly, you need ad revenue, I get that. But on mobile, your ads get drag site performance down precipitously. When my network is slow, I can barely use any given page. You have too many dynamic ads loading in what seems to be simultaneous priority, and articles sometimes take more than 10 seconds to finish loading because of it (again, on mobile).

There's a balance to strike here with the ad units and you guys are breaking so many basic UX paradigms with them that it discourages me from coming here.
