Your bike pedals are boring. These one is not. This one has built-in motion sensors, a cellular radio and a GPS tracker to let you know the instant your bike becomes a target, and help you find it if it gets stolen. And if you've got built-in motion sensors and GPS, why not let those pedals act as a fitness tracker too? And if you're already going to be spinning those pedals repeatedly, why not build in energy harvesting so you never have to charge the batteries?

That's what the Connected Cycle pedals promise to do. They probably won't be cheap, though we can't say for sure since the startup company won't give us the foggiest idea how much they'll cost. (Good for them: price promises are hard to keep for a startup.) But we do know the company is aiming to ship them later this year, in mid-2015. Can't wait.
