Sad news from California, where the director of photography on Jaws 3D, Chris Condon, has passed away at the age of 87. He was hugely important to the movie industry, having founded StereoVision and invented numerous 3D camera lenses.

His StereoVisionUSA 3D lenses were used in over 50 movies, but he officially retired as a DP, consultant and all-round 3D endorser in 2008. Passing away from a stroke on the 19th of December, Condon’s name may not be too well-known, but his legacy looks set to live on as 3D jumps from cinema to lounge-room. [Variety]
