Click and Grow’s second generation home hydroponic system launches today that, like its predecessor, provides urban gardeners an organic, pesticide-free, and nearly autonomous herb garden. Except the new Smart Herb Garden doesn’t need a bright window spot—it includes its own miniature sun.

Actually, the Click and Grow Smart Herb Garden differs from the original model in q number of ways. For one, it plugs into a wall socket rather than burn through quartets of AA batteries. The new model also does away with the single large planting pod in favor of three smaller pots, each with a different herb. And, the most obvious difference, the new model includes a height-adjustable overhead LED light source to supplement (or even replace) any available natural light.

The new Smart Herb Garden in available from the Click and Grow website for $100, includes three herbs—Basil, Lemongrass, and Thyme—though a variety of other species are available separately. Look for our review of the new model in coming weeks.
