A year after Star Wars makes its home at Disneyland, Marvel is moving in right across the street. Marvel Studios has just announced several updates to how their heroes will be integrated into Disney theme parks in the coming years. New themed areas and attractions are coming in Hong Kong, Paris and, of course, Anaheim, where fans have known for a while that Marvel was planning a big expansion.

Among the news was the fact that the Marvel area in Disney California Adventure would open in 2020 (a year after the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland). And not just that. The transformation process began yesterday with the closure of “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” in the A Bug’s Life area of the park. Later this year, that whole area will close with an eye on the 2020 opening with more things planned for the future.

There’s still no news on what specifically will make up the bulk of the Marvel area besides, of course, the Guardians of the Galaxy ride that already resides next to the A Bug’s Life area. The release mentions the Guardians, Spider-Man and the Avengers and the poster has Black Panther and Doctor Strange on there too. Rumors have long been floating around indicating that some kind of Captain America roller coaster would be part of it but, that seems unlikely as only the Bug’s Life section of the park is being transformed. But again, more is planned for the future.
