The folks who pre-ordered SimCity got hosed. Since the game came out on March 5th, it’s been plagued by server issues, caused by short-sighted always-online Origin DRM. Some folks couldn’t log on to the play the game at all. But EA has added servers, and the game should be be working now — just in time for Amazon to drop the price to $40.

For a game that’s less than a month old, it’s unusual to see major price cuts. But on Amazon you can pick it up for $20 less than list price and you’ll still get EA’s free apology game, if you activate SimCity today. Sure, you’ll still have to deal with Origin DRM and SimCity’s online-only nature. But that’s simply what you’ve got to do to play the first new SimCity in over a decade. If you didn’t pre-order the game but you still intend to play it soon, you’re looking pretty smart now, like you’re the mayor of Dealzville. [Amazon]
