These Trippy Cutting Boards Double As Cool Kitchen Art

Cutting boards are built to be brutalized, but just because they’re definitely going to get busted doesn’t mean they have to be boring. In fact, the flip side of these op-art Shape Boards are cool enough to double as wall art.

The slabs are made by Danny Giannella and Tammer Hijazi of Brooklyn’s Bower Studios. They come in a variety of five geometric shapes and types of wood, and each has a bit of a split personality: On the business side, the surface is completely plain, ready to be sliced, stabbed, and poked, while the party surface is painted with some simple, strategic color-blocking that makes for a pleasantly trippy 3D effect. It’s like the mullet of kitchen tools.

At $75 a piece, you’re probably going to want to keep it out on your countertop full-time, even when it’s not in use. [Co.Design]
