The GoQBot is a soft-bodied silicon rubber robot that uses a ballistic rolling technique powered by actuators made out of shape-memory alloy coils to move crazy fast—its push-off time is under 250ms, and it spins at 300rpm. Imagine that landing on your face.

P.S. Keep in mind, real caterpillars are smaller, so the absolute distance is smaller too. Or to be totally precise, if a real caterpillar moved that fast and was just as big, I’d cry. A lot.
