UK mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has just revealed the new Nexus 4 handset on its website, offering the phone up for pre-order well ahead of Google’s big launch event on October 29th.

The page explains that the phone has a 1280 x 768 4.7-inch screen, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC, 8GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera. It’s also, apparently, just 9.1mm thick, and comes with an install of Android 4.2—a subject which has up until now been much debated. Speaking of which, Carphone Warehouse describes some new features, presumably linked to the new version of Android:

Search gets smarter with Google Now. You ask. Google answers, instantly, and with all the detail you want… Stay in touch with Gesture Typing, a faster way of typing that lets you spell words by dragging your finger across the screen from letter to letter.

That sounds a lot like Swype to us. Neat. Carphone Warehouse is offering the phone on numerous contracts, and Verge reports evidence suggesting the SIM-free price will be around $600. Crucially the device is set to ship on October 30th—that’s just a day after Google’s big event next week. Looks like we know what to expect. [Carphone Warehouse via Modaco via Verge]
