Having just talked about the new Vaio laptops, I somehow feel obligated to mention the new Vaio desktops. But are they really new? No.
On the very high end of things is the Vaio type R desktop, with a 3.8 GHz CPU, two 250GB hard drives (intertwined by RAID 0, nonetheless), and 1GB of RAM. It also includes a 20″ LCD, which when you think about the 460,000 yen price tag (about $4,400 USD), is entirely understandable.
Working our way down the ranks, through the two other type R models, three type HX models, three type V models, and two type M models, we finally reach the bottom of the pack — the Vaio type M “VGC-M31B/W” has a 15.4″ screen, 2.7 GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM, and integrated video (good ‘ol SiS), and costs around 160,000 yen (about $1,538 USD).
