Last week we reported on how dolphins like to get high by ingesting the nerve toxin released by puffer fish — but there was no video. The BBC has now released the footage, and it's just as awesome as we hoped.
As awesome as it sounds, are we sure there's any truth to the 'getting high' part rather than just being a video of them playing with a fish/ball?
Tetrodotoxin isn't exactly something that you can get high off of properly (there's a pretty abrupt transition from 'nothing' to 'slight buzz' to 'paralyzed') and I'd seen similar play when the dolphins were just hanging out in the tank between shows at Sea World.
Not saying it's not possible, but as much as I love this story I'm starting to wonder.
