By recent counts, paleontologists have discovered upwards of 500 unique genera and over 1,000 different species of non-avian dinosaurs. How many have yet to be accounted for? More to the point: How many dinosaurs are there even left to find?

The latest episode of SciShow is devoted to the finitude of dinosaur specimens and their fossilized remains. It’s a strange but pressing thought: With only so many fossils in existence, it stands to reason that our days of dinosaur-hunting are numbered.
