Producer Peter Chernin may believe in his on-again, off-again Planet Of The Apes reboot, but he’s having trouble convincing directors to feel the same way. Which big-name helmers have already said no, and who’s in the running to replace them?

According to New York magazine’s Vulture blog, Predators’ Robert Rodriguez, Tomas Alfredson and Oscar nominee Kathryn Bigelow have all turned down the opportunity to direct Caesar, the Scott Frank-written revival of the Apes franchise. Now the movie is apparently being offered to a host of familiar names, amongst them The Book of Eli’s Albert and Allen Hughes, V For Vendetta’s James McTeigue and Legion’s Scott Stewart (Also in the running: The Last House On The Left director Dennis Illiadis, and Taken’s Pierre Morel). What, no Tim Burton?
