When Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play "PlayStation Phone" becomes available in March ("early spring" for Verizon) it will debut alongside 50 launch titles and come preloaded with what execs said was a "legendary" PlayStation One title. Updated.

Other confirmed features include local multiplayer and a wifi hostspot hosting feature for connected head to head gaming.

Really, though, no surprises here. It's a Sony Ericsson Xperia phone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread that will play PlayStation games (and others). Some of those games will be older titles with exclusive Xperia Play-only levels and upgrades.

Is this enough to deter gamers from purchasing the meaty PSP2 or the glasses-free 3DS? Definitely not, but the line between dedicated mobile gaming devices and smartphones grows ever blurrier, no?

Update: The pre-loaded title will be Crash Bandicoot, reports Engadget.
