Last month, YouTube introduced us to a number of new initiatives aimed at roping people into a paid subscription. Today, we’re getting our first look at YouTube Music, the service’s tailor-made experience for kicking out the jams.

The new app is available for both iOS and Android.

In short, the app is designed to flesh out YouTube’s powers as a music service. Google started this process earlier this year with the introduction of YouTube Music Key, which removed ads from videos and allowed you to listen to tunes in the background on mobile devices. YouTube Music takes this a step further with personalized recommendations, radio features, and a layout that looks, well, more like a music service—except you can choose to listen to music while also watching videos.

You’ll of course need to be a YouTube Red subscriber to enjoy benefits like ad-free music and offline mixtapes. We’ve only just downloaded this app, but when we’ve had the chance to check it out properly, we’ll report back.
