British tabloids are claiming that former Disney moppet Zac Efron will be the new Peter Parker in Sony’s Spider-Man movie reboot. We’d be interested, but then we remember: It’s coming from British tabloid journalists, and therefore probably untrue.
OK Magazine is claiming that Efron will get $9 million to appear as Spider-Man in Marc Webb’s new Spider-Man movie. We wouldn’t be too upset if this ended up being true, despite complaints about his age (He’s 22; Tobey Maguire was 26 when the first Raimi movie came out), but – even though Efron has called the role “a dream come true” in the past – the source of the news makes us very suspicious, if not downright dismissive, about the possibility.
