Samurai Stormtroopers Hunt Down and Exterminate Ninja Jedis

If Star Wars took place in Japan and Jedis were ninjas, this is what Stormtroopers would hunt them down in during the Great Jedi Purge. They're obviously smarter than the average clone, too, since they're too dumb and clumsy to wield katana. Created by artist Yoshi Isao and on display at Gift Show 2008 in Tokyo, Giz Japan brings us this follow-up to his rendition of Darth Vader as Dark Lord of the Shogun. [Yoshitoku via Giz Japan]

But the SW movies were influenced, in part, but Samurai movies. Vader's helmet cowl was supposed to echo a Samurai helmet (though to most Western eyes it looks more WWII German infantry influenced).

Someone really needs to do Star Wars set in Feudal Japan. It would be really cool to see Darth Vader emerge from the door of a Japanese castle in his ninja garb. Very Akira Kurosawa. Via George Lucas. Via Akira Kurosawa.

Damn, hate to admit my dorkometer is reading off the chart right now, but its kinda bad-ass looking.

The last samurai was a great flick. Little OT but still unbleivable that im saying that.

Love it.

Really like the idea of a ninja (Anakin) becoming the head of the samurai (Darth). That alone would create a whole new element.

It was always a little odd to imagine this militaristic figure as having once been a jedi. It's not just going from "good" to "evil" - but an entirely different mindset. I mean, I know there are arcs out there for the period between Ep. III & IV, but the layers of what it would mean, philosophically, to make that switch from ninja to samurai seems right on.

This summer there was the same suit, but with Vader's helmet, way much cooler than the Stormtrooper one. I tried to make a photograph but they didn't let me, anyway y make one with my phone ;)

I find this very fitting, since Star Wars was inspired by "The Hidden Fortress"

Can anyone direct me to a larger version of these pictures? I'd love to have one as a desktop background, but I cannot read Japanese.
