We brought you news about the Eee Desktop PC EP20 a little while back, but it looks like the chaps at Hot Hardware have managed to get hold of some shots of the final, production line models. Unfortunately, they aren't willing to cite their source, but they are willing to say that the images "are indeed shots of an Asus Eee PC Desktop product that should be arriving to market some time in the next quarter or so." From what we have previously seen, the EP20 isn't quite as small as a Mac Mini, but we're still liking the design. The bubbly pattern on the side of the white edition just makes us all fizzy with excitement. We can't wait. [Hot Hardware]

I'd buy one of those, assuming that I don't have to use that stand. Looks like a nice, cheap alternative to a Mac Mini.
Asus Wii.
@Mark Wilson:
now all you have to do is hack a wiimote to be its mouse.
@weatherman: i'm pretty sure it would fall over without the stand, but hey, let me know how that turns out for you!
@awperk: that's why you put it on it's side.
this company seems to lack originality in just about everything they make.
@mricyfire: Yeah! These guys put their computer's bits into -boxes-. They totally ripped off IBM!
it looks my wii!!!!!
but can it watch hd porn?
That hoop/ring stand looks tacky. What is the point of it?
@Mark Wilson: Asus Weee.
wii pc. nice.
@aznplayer213: If it has HD built in, then yes.
@aznplayer213: Dont count on it. In the original pictures it didnt seem to have a graphics card so it probably has an integrated intel video card.
I wouldn't get my hopes up.
And even tho the computer looks nice and all and could be a so called competitor to the Mac mini i doubt Mac feels threatened because quite frankly even if this thing came with slighty higher specs than Mac's mini it still wouldn't run any faster because Vista and XP aren't as lightweight as the Mac OS X.
Great alternative just to stream movies, music, pictures, and other types of media to your television or something of the sort but for that you could just get a 360 or a PS3 maybe a wii and you'll get the same thing and you'd be able to update the hard drive on the ps3 to match the asus's or just connect it to your desktop computer.
I see this more as walmart best seller product or something regular people that really dont care what kind of computer they have as long as they have it.
well all i can say is, thank GAWD that asus isnt doing the obvious and copying the astetics of another very popular gizmo in hopes of boosting its own sales.
i guess its a toss up between looking like the mac mini or the wii, and asus is looking to be as far away from the apple crowd as possible....so wii like it is
!
Is it just me, or does this look a lot like a Wii, a Mac Mini, and that crazily expensive Blackbird PC fused together?
[www.techshout.com]
that one.
ah, well I see the first two have already been noticed, but my first impression was "Wow, it's like a cheaper, more mac-like version of the Blackbird thing"
thought blackbird was the company at first xD
@man_in_gauze: Exactly what I thought...a tiny asus-branded HP Blackbird.
Looks cool enough.
Weee
Or a Mac Mineee.
Tilted like that, they look like they might be the offspring of a Wii and a Mac mini with a little HAL 9000 grafted on. I like it even if some people can't see beyond similarities.
I wonder if they're real. If so, I hope the base looks better in the final design.
@Brian Sexton: The silver ring, that is.
If it still has a dual-core processor, and some decent stats under it's hood, I know a couple people who'd jump at this instead of having a huge beige box sitting under their desks.
And if it were to have, say, DVI out? It'd look very cozy as a HTPC beside my Wii.
If it's still $300, I'd probably end up getting one anyway.
@man_in_gauze: trudat... that blackbird is just about the nicest full size pc ive seen
That ring rules it and in the darkness binds...
@strider_mt2k: Actually, when it breaks, you turn it upside down.
