Artist Carl Warner takes landscape photographs that look good enough to eat—probably because they’re made out of food. From the meaty mesas of the Old West to the chocolate bar monolith of 2001: A Space Odyssey, his images both trick and delight the eyes.
We first featured Warner’s Foodscapes in the earliest days of io9, and since then he’s added even more incredible images. There’s a brief sense of disorientation as you look at these images, as your brain adjusts to the realization that you’re looking at cabbage instead of water and pickles instead of cacti. Part of the fun is searching through each photograph to figure out what the individual components are made from. Sometimes, though, you just have to sit back and admire the scenes he can compose out of vegetables and bread.
