Many of us think of sunsets, outer space and the Grand Canyon as ineffably beautiful or moving, but Tommy Edison – who has been blind since birth – manages to characterize them with ease.
Edison’s perspective is charming, and surprisingly moving. Like his explanation of colors, and his answer to the question What Do Blind People See? (both directed and edited by Ben Churchill), Edison’s descriptions manage to be less an explanation of what it’s like to be blind, and more a reminder that there are ways of experiencing the world that we often overlook. It’s really excellent stuff.
