If last week’s video of Boston Dynamic’s SpotMini robo-dog opening doors all by itself had you worried, don’t be. The bot’s creators have done everything possible to ensure the public’s safety by hiring a guy to thwart the robo-dog’s escape attempts using a hockey stick. Phew! One less thing to stress over.

We’ll give the robot some credit, it puts up a good fight against the goon trying to smack its grabbing hand away from the door handle in a “robustness test” uploaded by Boston Dynamics today. But ultimately the four-legged robot gets dragged away from its escape attempt like a dog on a leash trying to get in one last sniff before its afternoon at the park is over. Maybe someone should suggest that Boston Dynamics’ technicians set off a few firecrackers first? That always sent our family dog into hiding.
