While not everyone continues to watch The Simpsons into its 27th season, most people remember the old episodes. Classics like “Deep Space Homer,” which aired in season five, over 20 years ago. Today, artist Mark Englert has taken that memorable episode and turned it into a stunning poster.
The poster is called Deep Space Homer, and it’ll be available from 12:00 pm PST Friday until 12:00 pm PST Sunday at Dark Ink Art. It’s a collaboration between Englert, Acme Archives, and 20th Century Fox. The print measures 12 x 36 inches.
Englert told Collider:
I’m beyond excited to have gotten another opportunity to work with FOX and Acme on an episode-centric Simpsons poster. Deep Space Homer is seated firmly among my favorite episodes of The Simpsons. The 2001 bit, the Home Improvement and Married with Children parodies.
I still quote the episode to this day, ‘The only danger is if they send us to that terrible Planet of the Apes. Wait a minute… Statue of Liberty… that was our planet!’ and ‘Careful! They’re ruffled!’ Oh, and of the course the ‘I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.’ That’s a whole big meme thing on the internet. I even occasionally get the Golden Grahams jingle stuck in my head thanks to this episode. ‘How doth the hero, strong and brave. A celestial path in the heavens pave… Go, Dad. Go.’ I could do this all day. I’ve watched this season of the show way too many times.
And now you can put it on your wall and remember any time you like.
Here are a few detail shots because that full images doesn’t quite do it justice.
