Ben Stiller may be ready to save the world from suburban alien mayhem in the movie Neighborhood Watch. But can a pack of overweight Dads fleeing from ET make you laugh?
The Neighborhood Watch script has been around for ages, and we always thought it would get made by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. But we're thrilled that Akiva Schaffer — of Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live fame — is getting into features.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Schaffer will direct and Ben Stiller is interested in the lead. Another thing this film has going for it are the fact that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are the last writers to have taken a pass at the script.
The script follows a group of dads in the burbs, who set up a fake Neighborhood Watch program to avoid their daily duties. Naturally the group stumbles upon an nefarious, otherworldly plot, and it's up to them to save the day.
