“Thriller,” Screaming Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell on You,” and “Halloween Shindig” by Ed Twilley and the Creepers are obviously Halloween classics. But few songs balance “eternal sleep” and “clean holiday fun” quite like the late Sheldon Allman’s 1961 tune “Children’s Day at the Morgue.” (Allman was also the singing voice for Mr. Ed.)
