What a long road it’s been for Coyote vs. Acme, the hybrid animation-live-action Looney Tunes comedy that was first shelved by Warner Bros. and then rescued by Ketchup Entertainment, which announced last year the film would get a big-screen release in August 2026. The appointed time is nearly here, and with it comes a final trailer.
The fact that this trailer is leaning into the underdog aspect of Wile E. Coyote’s story—finally, he’ll have his day in court, suing the megacorp known for peddling devices with explosive malfunctions—is very fitting, since Coyote vs. Acme itself may be Hollywood’s ultimate underdog story.
The film looks entertaining (aside from all our animated friends, Will Forte plays Coyote’s lawyer and John Cena is Acme’s big bad boss) and will surely sell tickets, but even before any box office numbers come in, it’s hard not to feel like Coyote vs. Acme is already a triumph.
Dave Green directs, and the human cast includes Lana Condor, Tone Bell, P.J. Byrne, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán. Aside from the usual cartoon suspects (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, etc.), expect plenty of cameos from Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies characters too. The script is by Samy Burch from a script by Burch, James Gunn (yes, that one), and Jeremy Slater.
Wile E. Coyote sticks it to the man on August 28, and tickets are on sale now. Will you be checking it out in theaters?
