Hope you didn’t have your heart set on an Independence Day sequel, because it looks like diretor Roland Emmerich is interested in an entirely different alien invasion. The disaster porn auteur has just picked up a “new take” on the alien invasion movie. Are there any more ways to tell this story? From the perspective of the invaders, maybe?
Penned by Nic Kelman, the script allegedly has the Emmerich trope of hot button science issues (see Day After Tomorrow, and 2012) and a new spin on the invasion series. Which we’re scratching our heads to figure out. This doesn’t mean ID4-2 is dead, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s postponed for another five years.
