This is not a drill, people. Remember when Lego's crowdsourced set-pitching site nominated Doctor Who to get its own Lego set? Well, now it's official: The Doctor is coming to Lego this year.
N.B: The header image is not the final product, but the Ideas design submitted. Subject to change and all that!
Ever since Lego announced that Doctor Who pitches would be accepted on Lego Ideas (formerly known as Lego CUUSOO), the series has seen several cool sets pitched - but only two prominent ideas reached the needed 10,000 community votes to be put forward to Lego for review last year - Doctor Who by Glenbricker and Doctor Who and Companions by Andrew Clarke (which you can see above). In a video released today to announce the next two sets in the Ideas range that has previously featured the likes of the Ghostbusters, the Curiosity rover and a trio of female scientists, the toymaker finally confirmed that alongside a set based on the titular character from WALL-E, Andrew Clarke's Who set would be produced later this year:
Lego didn't offer any details on either set, so there's no information on the size of the set, its release date or price, other than the fact they'll be out by the end of 2015. But in a press release issued by BBC Worldwide, we got to see the briefest teaser confirming that at least the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, will be included in the set:
Those are some pretty fearsome eyebrows, even in lego form!
I'm sorry, I need to go lie down for a bit and stop hyperventilating.
