In Content Warning, you have to create the scariest video ever and then share it with the world, well, if you survive… Film monsters, survive chaos, and turn your team’s funniest scares into viral SpöökTube fame.

About Content Warning

Some games are about saving the world, some are about collecting loot, and some are just about making memories with your friends. Content Warning kind of falls into the last category, but with a strange, spooky twist.

The idea is simple enough — you and a couple of friends grab your gear, step into a diving bell, and head down into a place called the Old World. Once you’re down there, everything feels off. Strange shadows, clunky physics monsters, cursed relics sitting in the dark corners. Your job? Record as much of it as you can, because your videos are going up on SpöökTube, and those views are your only real ticket to fame. Or survival.

It’s part horror, part comedy, part teamwork. Some players take the scary parts seriously, creeping through hallways with flashlights. Others just laugh while filming their friends getting jump-scared. The point isn’t to “win” in the traditional sense. The point is to survive long enough, get back to the diving bell, and bring the footage with you. Once you’re back up, the game turns into a watch party, all of you sit together, watch the silly and scary clips you just made, and then wait to see if the internet loves them enough to push your team forward.

And that’s where it hooks people. Every run lasts three in-game days. If your team films enough, you go viral, and that ad revenue keeps you alive for another stretch. If not, well, back to square one.

Why should I download Content Warning?

The charm isn’t just in the monsters. It’s in the mix of teamwork, chaos, and creativity. You don’t just fight enemies, you film them. And while most horror games keep you quiet and tense, here you’re encouraged to joke, scream, talk to your friends through voice chat, and basically create your own little story each run.

Think about it: one player is the camera operator, desperately trying to frame the shot, while another is poking at some creepy artifact. Someone else is running out of oxygen, and another is yelling because a monster just ragdolled across the room. Then everyone has to make the decision: keep filming or get out. Those choices create natural drama, and that’s what makes the replays fun to watch.

The upgrades give you a reason to keep going. Better gear, more reliable flashlights, new props, all of it makes survival a little easier. But the game never lets you feel too safe. Even with upgrades, the Old World always throws something that can end your run early. That risk is part of the fun.

For anyone who enjoys streaming or sharing clips, this game is basically built for that. The chaos translates well to video, and even if you’re not into uploading, just watching the replay with your own group can be hilarious.

Is Content Warning Free?

No, this isn’t one of those free-to-play mobile games. You buy it on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation, and that’s it. There are no hidden ads in the middle of the gameplay, no tricks where you need coins to keep playing. The SpöökTube views inside the game are just for the game economy, not tied to real money. It’s a paid game, but once you have it, the updates and fun are part of the package.

That’s important because a lot of people are tired of games that constantly nudge you toward microtransactions. Content Warning isn’t about that. It’s about silly fun mixed with real tension.

What Operating Systems Are Compatible With Content Warning?

You’ll need a decent setup to run it smoothly. On the minimum side, a Windows 10 machine with an i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti can handle it. For better performance, the recommendation is Windows 11, a stronger i5 or Ryzen 5, 16 GB RAM, and something like a GTX 1060. It also runs on Xbox and PlayStation if you’d rather not worry about PC specs. The file size is light compared to most modern games, about 4 to 6 GB. So storage isn’t a big problem. What matters most is that you’ve got a 64-bit system.

The game is also available for gaming consoles. You can download it for PlayStation (available via PlayStation Plus) and Xbox One and Series X/S.

What are the Alternatives to Content Warning

One of the alternatives is The Headliners, which takes the idea of performance and pushes it into a different space. Instead of filming horror content, you’re playing around with news and public opinion. It’s not about monsters, but it does make you think about how information spreads and how audiences react. Like Content Warning, the fun comes from trying to keep people’s attention, but it’s done in a totally different setting.

PEAK comes from the same developers as Content Warning, but it plays very differently. It’s built on high-energy runs and challenges, less horror and more chaos. If you like the style of Landfall games but don’t always want to dive into dark corridors, PEAK offers that same sense of unpredictability in a brighter setting.

R.E.P.O. is another co-op experience, but here you and your team are salvaging and recovering valuable materials in creepy places. The atmosphere is tense, and teamwork is essential. It doesn’t have the same viral-video theme, but it shares the risk/reward loop where every trip could bring you treasure or take you out completely.
