We’ve seen some snazzy “star trail” photography courtesy of astronauts aboard the International Space Station. But these photos become even crazier when they’re turned into time-lapse footage and stacked on top of each other.

The final product of this stacking resembles some palatial pasture in dimension Tron. Or the stargate sequence from 2001. Or heck, a Yellow Magic Orchestra music video. In any case, it’s a spectacle that makes one want to wax phantasmagoric. Explains videographer Christopher Malin of this process:

Video achived by “stacking” image sequences provided by NASA from the crew at International Space Station. Stacks make interesting patterns visible, for example lightning corridors within clouds. One can also sometimes recognize satellite tracks and meteors — patterns that are not amongst the main star trails.
